How to Take Part in Good Deeds Day 2021
You can make a positive change in the world!
Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of doing good. All around the globe, millions of people from 108 countries join together that day (or multiple days) to volunteer and do acts of kindness to help make positive changes in the world. Now in its 15th year, Good Deeds Day will be on April 11.
This day of doing good was the brainchild of businesswoman and philanthropist Shari Arison and was launched in 2007 in just one country, Israel and it has grown tremendously over the years. The idea of giving back and helping others appeals to people of all ages around the world.
“I believe that if people will think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the world,” said Arison. “Good Deeds Day has become the leading day of giving and this year individuals, school children, students, soldiers, and employees from many businesses are joining in for the annual Good Deeds Day with the aim of doing a good deed for others.”
Good Deeds Day held its largest ever day on April 7, 2019 with 3.9 million participants totaling 7.8 million hours of service. it’s really easy and fun to do. Just follow these three easy steps:
Pick Your Project
Do you want to start your own project for your family, community, or business to do but you don’t know what to do? No worries. You can start by getting ideas from some past projects from around the globe on the Good Deeds website. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many projects will have to be virtual but there are still many to choose from.
Another resource is VolunteerMatch, a nonprofit organization that is the largest international network that matches volunteers with the causes that inspire them. Another resource is Points of Light, an organization that was founded by former US President HW Bush that was founded in 1990 as an independent nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to volunteer services globally.
Sign Up and Register Your Project
You can register your GDD project until April 1, 2020. But don’t’ fret, if you don’t have your own project, there will be many choices of projects from organizations around the world that you can join this year from the comfort of your own home.
Spread the Word
The folks at Good Deeds Day have prepared a lot of really great downloadable materials in 14 languages including toolkits, fact sheets, editable posters, logos, and much more that are sure to inspire. The more people who join you, the greater the impact of being a positive change in the world.
