Every year on May 15, the United Nations celebrates the International Day of Families - a day to reflect the importance that community attaches to our closest loved ones. The day is also an opportunity to promote awareness of issues relating to families and to increase knowledge of the social, economic and demographic processes affecting families. In 2015, the UN is focusing on gender equality and rights of children within families.
