Anna Jarvis was a woman who loved and appreciated all the sacrifices her mother made for her and believed that all mothers should be honored. That is why in 1914 Jarvis lobbied President Woodrow Wilson to sign a proclamation that would mark Mother’s Day as a national holiday, occurring each year on the second Sunday in May. Now adopted in many other countries, Mother’s Day stands as a time to recognize moms around the world with a personalized gift or token of appreciation.
