The positive effects of meditation on the individual are well-documented - from lower blood pressure and increased physical fitness to enhanced mental health. But what happens when hundreds of thousands of people meditate together? It's time to find out.
This Saturday, July 11, 2015 more than 500,000 people from around the world will join together in a massive virtual meditation session, channeling their energies towards compassion. The deeply positive initiative is spearheaded by the spiritual and holistic health leader Deepak Chopra along with author Gabrielle Bernstein, Cuban news anchor Ismael Cala and musician Trevor Hall.
Last year, the Global Meditation event set a Guinness World Record for the largest online meditation gathering in history, with more than 140,000 people coming together to meditate for peace. The 2nd annual event is encouraging people to share their stories of compassion by posting stories, captions or photos using the hashtags #iamcompassion and #globalmeditation2015.
Novice and experienced meditators alike can join half of a million people in a few moments of contemplation - either alone or with a group - to spread compassion, love and empathy throughout the world.
