You Can Join the Global Day of Doing Good

Imagine a world where kindness rules. Where people help their neighbors. Where communities gather to create positive change in the world, together. But you don’t have to imagine it, you can live it by joining with millions of other like-minded changemakers on Good Deeds Day (GDD). This global day of volunteering falls on April 16 in 2023.
“I believe that if people will think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the world,” said Shari Arison, philanthropist, businesswoman, and the founder of GDD.
How it began
Arison’s vision led to the creation of GDD which began in just one country in 2007 to going global in 2011. This global day of altruism has united millions of people from 108 countries in organizing doing good projects, improving their communities and providing inspiration to do good on GDD and every day.
Activities range from small projects like painting a community center or blood drive to large projects like a massive beach clean-up in Greece in 2022. While GDD went virtual in 2020 due to the pandemic, there are many large community events planned for 2023.
“All of us together have the power to lead the world to a better place, each in their own way and according to their heart’s desire. It is heartwarming to see the outpour of responses from people across the globe who extend a helping hand at this time, in any way possible, either face-to-face or by faming on social media, and in numerous other ways that do good for the benefit of others, “Arison said.
How to take part
Get involved in GDD in three easy steps. First, save the date on your phone or computer, register on the website, and then let the GDD people know what you are planning to do.
Don’t have any ideas of your own, no problem, there are hundreds of ideas to choose from on the website. You can also find a volunteer opportunity through Points of Light, a nonprofit organization founded by former president George H.W. Bush. Another resource is VolunteerMatch, a nonprofit that matches volunteers with causes they support.
Whatever project you participate in will make a difference to a person, a community, or even the world.

Good Deeds Day, an annual global day of doing good, is the pinnacle of doing good year-round. Initiated in 2007 by business woman and philanthropist Shari Arison, Good Deeds Day has grown to 110 countries with millions of participants. Good Deeds Day 2023 is on April 16.
