This video was made for Teachers Appreciation Week back in May – but really, isn’t every day a good day to pay tribute to the stellar work our educators do? To encourage new teachers, the crew over at SoulPancake, along with educational resource site Edutopia, asked veteran educators to pen a letter to themselves on their first day of teaching. After writing with smiles on their faces and even tears in their eyes, the teachers shared parts of their letters – and what gems of wisdom they imparted. From tips on patience and persistence, funny anecdotes, encouragement to be creative and reassurance that “everything is going to be okay,” the letters shine a light on the challenges that new teachers face, and the inspirational journeys they embark on to cultivate and nurture young minds.
