The well known singer and producer teams up with Oprah to give college scholarships to four deserving young men.
will.i.am is best known as one of the front men of the Black Eyed Peas and a talented music producer - but he is also a true giver. With the help of the Queen of Media, Ms. Oprah Winfrey herself, will.i.am surprised four unsuspecting young men with college scholarships that cover their tuition, books and fees.
Back in 2009, the Oprah Winfrey audience met Jaiquann, Elijah and twin brothers Darien and Barien. These exemplary seniors in high school did not have it easy; Darien and Barien’s father was incarcerated and Elijah had to work and go to school to support his family. Through good grades and determination, all four got accepted to their top pick universities. Their dreams of getting a college education were quickly quashed though, as the young men did not have the means to pay their way. will.i.am’s generous i.am scholarship quickly changed the course of their lives, and the Oprah show catches up with them four years later to see how they are faring.
