Most have experienced the kind of wanderlust that just makes people want to pick up and go, expose themselves to new cultures, or learn a new language. While most people are slowly checking off destinations from their bucket list, one adventurous woman decided to visit all 196 countries in the world and to do it all in less than two years.
Cassie DePecol began her travels at the age of 25 and within 15 months she visited 180 countries. The now 27-year-old is well on her way to achieving her dream of becoming the very first female to visit every country on the planet. To achieve her goal, she only spends an average of a few days in each country.
DePecol’s passion for globe-trotting began while she was in school, when she realized she would rather explore new customs, religions, and cultures, than stay in her hometown. So far, she spent $198,000 on her trips, which are partly funded by sponsors. In addition to filming a documentary about her travels, DePecol posts pictures of the destinations on her Instagram, where she also advertises for various luxury hotels in exchange for a place to sleep.
The free spirit is certainly accomplishing a personal feat during her voyage, but she is also proving that women have the power to travel the world on their own. Safe travels on the rest of your journey, Cassie.
