Why did Joseph Gordon-Levitt post a video to his Facebook page of himself jamming out on a drumset in the middle of a subway platform? Simple - he wants you to do the same and become part of his latest project, Everyday Spectacular. In the video, the actor and filmmaker, who also owns a production company, casually sets up his drumset on the platform before totally rocking out, while the unsuspecting commuters barely realize who is sitting in front of them. Gordon-Levitt posted the video to his six million followers with the caption: “I played the drums (in a subway) for our 'Everyday, Spectacular' project - now, where are all you musicians gonna play your instruments? ?#LGxHR?.”
The goal of this creative publicity stunt, is to find musicians and dancers of all styles to also perform in public, film themselves, and post their performances online. Eventually, Gordon-Levitt wants to find musicians (and vocalists, too!) to perform a track with him. The finished track will then be part of a new ad campaign for a new phone by LG. "We want to tell an even larger story, focusing on the big moments that happen every day – moments that other people are meant to see and hear – moments that happen without warning and catch you off guard. These are the moments that make up the Everyday, Spectacular," Gordon-Levitt wrote on his website.
In the end, the goal is to create “a big, vibrant, beautiful, spectacular collaborative piece of art.” And what more could one want than to create art and inspire people to be creative on the way.
