A Short Film to Inspire You to Reach for the Stars [VIDEO]
A student’s class project is pulling heart strings around the world.
What began as a student’s thesis project for school is now an award-winning production that has been screened throughout the U.S. and is set to be made into a full-length motion picture.
The 3D animated short film, SOAR, created by director and animator, Alyce Tzue, tells the story of Mara, a 13-year-old girl who dreams of designing airplanes, but whose designs have, so far, been unsuccessful. That is until she meets Lucas – a tiny little boy who falls out of the sky after his miniature flying machine breaks. Now, Mara has to quickly find a way to repair Lucas’ machine so he can rejoin his fleet. She has to use all of her creative power and learn from her past mistakes to save the day.
Though this Pixar-like fantastical tale is turning heads in the filmmaking world for its ingenious storytelling and flawless graphics, it’s the touching message that has made it such a success. Mara and Lucas show the world that “when you put in everything you’ve got, sometimes you achieve more than you ever expected.”
