Meditation is all about staying present and in the moment, finding inner peace and letting go of the chaos that surrounds you. Some people find calm through guided meditations, others by using podcasts and apps, and many meditate on their own. But, you might want to consider an additional way of doing meditation:puppy meditation. Puppies and meditation go hand and paw.
Dogs are the perfect meditation partners
If you have a fur baby, or have been around people training a puppy, you know how time consuming and all-encompassing it can be. According to The Guardian, it is so intense that it forces you to change your habits and priorities.
From being someone that is used to checking the news while having a leisurely breakfast that ends when you bring your fur baby home. Training a puppy means that you have to focus on getting the little one outside as soon as you wake. Being a puppy parent forces you to be present and focused, and perhaps this is a good hack for getting into a mindfulness track.

You may be skeptical but meditating with your dog is a real thing. This Youtube video from Marissa Walch teaches you how to meditate with your dog. The video shows that there are ways for both you and your pup to breathe together and to calm yourselves during meditation. Petting your dog through the process is calming in and of itself, and sharing these moments together will help you bond as well.
Meditating with your dog every day
Meditating with your puppy or full-grown dog doesn't have to be difficult or complicated. One of the main aspects of meditation, explains Mindful, is focusing on your breath and noticing what is happening in your mind. When you are home and feeling distracted or overwhelmed, perhaps it is a good idea to sit down with your dog and start doing breathing exercises together. Start slowly and carefully and you will be able to gain clarity and peace of mind.
A blog on the Mudita website suggests that you use the opportunity to be present with your dog, play with him or her and just spend time together, purposefully and mindfully. Since awareness is an important piece of mindfulness, consciously focusing on spending time with your furry bestie is an amazing way to do it. Who knew mindfulness and meditation could be so rewarding and meaningful.
