Sexuality is a very complicated topic, especially in our current times when perspectives, barriers, and concepts are consistently being challenged and "gender" has taken on various new meanings and possibilities.
An exhibit on display through April 22 at London's College of Fashion is seeking to put a name to the face of the transgender community with a smattering of donated personal items that are tagged with memories, explanations and understanding as to why these objects have served as significant memorabilia in these anonymous lives.
The Museum of Transology is the largest and most dynamic display of artifacts and portraits focusing on trans life in the whole of the United Kingdom. The display is showcased alongside an exclusive mix of works, including photography, films, documentaries and behind the scenes footage.
Most importantly, the exhibition itself personalizes the stories of England's transgender community and challenges the notions that gender is fixed, binary, or biologically determined.
Through the intimate artifacts on display, patrons can reach new understandings of the transgender world and how self-shaped gender identities are progressively becoming part of a new and welcome dialogue.
