Listen to the Soothing Sounds of Croatia’s Sea Organ [VIDEO]
A manmade creation gives a voice to the waves.
In the coastal town of Zadar, Croatia, nature and music collide. Zadar, located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, is home to the sea organ – a public art installation that cleverly incorporates the town’s 230-foot long concrete boardwalk. The organ was designed by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić and was inspired by an ancient Greek water organ, known as the hydraulis.
As the waves move through a series of submerged pipes located under the boardwalk, air is pushed through the tuned pipes, generating music that sounds from the openings at the base of the stairs.
The sounds of the sea are eerily beautiful with a calming effect. Listen for yourself!
