Kids Are At The Heart of A Touching New Initiative | Famous faces (and voices) are leading an innovative new campaign to benefit children affected by the Coronavirus quarantine.

What do Ellen DeGeneres, Brie Larson, Camilla Cabello, Jamie Lee Curtis, Amy Adams, Jennifer Garner, Reese Witherspoon, Beanie Feldstein, Demi Lovato, and Jimmy Fallon have in common beyond their celebrity status? The answer is that since last Monday, all have been reading children’s stories in sweet videos shared on Instagram  to make quarantine lighter for kids on #SaveWithStories.

All these celebs are using the power of storytelling to bring a little fun, learning, distraction and reassurance to children at this time. The narrators include Amy Adams reading Dinosaur Princess, a cute story written by her nine-year-old daughter Aviana and illustrated by her husband.

But there’s more to this touching gesture. This is all part of an innovative charity campaign dreamed up by Hollywood movie actresses Jennifer Garner and Amy Adams. These “national treasures” are working with two charities, as well as their famous friends, to raise funds for vulnerable US kids affected by school closures.

As Amy Adams puts it, We are galvanizing as a community to support a new fund for a combined effort between SAVE THE CHILDREN and Share Our Strength’s NO KID HUNGRY.”

The campaign emphasizes that thirty million children in the US don’t just go to school to learn, but rely on school for food — so many of them risk losing their one nutritional meal of the day with the current closures. Funds raised will help boost both food and learning activities.

In terms of food,  Garner and Adams explain that the funds will “help us make sure that families know how to find meals when schools are closed, support mobile food trucks, food banks and other community feeding programs.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Garner visited a Kentucky school with Save the Children, and was stunned to realize that kids were taking some of the lunch given to them home with them.

Donations will also assist with education by providing educational toys, books and worksheets, and support out-of-school programs enabling kids to make up for lost time in the classroom.
