Famed artist Jeff Koons is the featured talent of Project Perpetual – a new nonprofit which uses contemporary art as a catalyst for change. The freshly launched endeavor teams up with a celebrated artist to create beautiful and iconic pieces of art which are then auctioned off to raise money for the United Nations Foundation. Koons’ ten unique works have already raised 5.5 million dollars to support Shot@Life, an initiative to safely vaccinate children throughout the world. His pieces of art included a stunning sculpture titled Gazing Ball (Charity), which incorporated donated Hermès Birkin bags.
Project Perpetual is the brainchild of art collector and philanthropist Svetlana Kuzmicheva-Uspenskaya and she is backed by a team of high profile supporters including fashion designers Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg as well as director Sofia Coppola and Princess Caroline of Hanover.
The successful auction is the first in a series that hopes to harness the power of creativity to enact long lasting social change in the world, one piece of artwork at a time.
