According to a study published in Frontiers of Public Health, there is a real difference in wellbeing between people who spend time and engage in doing arts and crafts and people who don't. The study found that people who do arts and crafts are more satisfied and have a higher level of joy and happiness.
Interestingly, the study also showed that it doesn't depend on a person’s age, gender, socioeconomic status or background. Doing arts and crafts is good for literally everyone! You would think, according to Study Finds, that a person’s job or employment status would play a bigger role on whether they are happy or not than whether they do arts and crafts. But this is not the case. Arts and crafts wins the prize, and can have a bigger impact on your mood and life.
Accomplishment Through Creativity
One of, if not the most, surprising aspect of the study is how it is true for all people. Arts and Crafts could be good for everyone. Not many things are like that. But if you think about it a bit more, it makes sense.
CNN reports that crafts and art is about expressing yourself through your creation. Self expression is important to everyone, it is a human thing. Mastering something and creating something with your hands gives you a sense of satisfaction, also a much needed human emotion and feeling. After all, who doesn't enjoy feeling accomplished and seeing a physician representation of your work?
In addition, there are so many types of arts and crafts, it makes sense that you would find one that speaks to you.
