What would you do if the Eiffel Tower apartment was yours for a night?
Yes, you read that right. Arguably one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, The Eiffel Tower now has a temporary pop up apartment on its lower level. In anticipation of its unveiling, and coinciding with the UEFA Euro Games, the company HomeAway, a global vacation rental website, hosted a contest asking participants to describe what they would do with the one-in-a-lifetime opportunity in 140 characters or less.
Four lucky winners will reap the benefits during one-night stays coming up on June 23, 28 and July 4 and 8, 2016. Each winner is allowed to bring up to five friends and/or family members for an epic sleepover in the two-bedroom apartment, which boasts views of other famous Parisian landmarks, including L'Arc de Triomphe, Le Grand Palais and Sacre Coeur from its floor-to-ceiling windows.
With a whopping 7 million visitors to the iconic structure every year, visiting the Eiffel Tower is a must-stop for tourists the world over, so it's no surprise that the competition garnered entries from 150,000 people all over the globe. One of the winning entries from the UK was particularly heartwarming: "My two young sons are autistic and both obsessed with lights and the tower itself, so I'd spend the night watching them in awe." Sounds like a truly memorable way to experience the thrill of the ‘City of Light.’
