Former New York Knicks player Eddy Curry is lending his voice and influence to the urgent mission of liberating Israeli hostages from the Hamas terrorist organization. Among these captives is Kfir Bibas, who was just a 10-month-old Israeli infant, when he was abducted alongside his family during Hamas' violent attack on October 7, 2023. Curry’s involvement is not just a stand against the atrocities committed by Hamas but a deep, personal commitment to ensuring that Kfir and other hostages return safely to their families.

Calls to free Kfir Bibas
The horrifying events of October 7 unfolded when Hamas launched a series of coordinated attacks on Israeli communities, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,400 individuals, including civilians, and the capture of over 200 hostages. Among those taken is Kfir Bibas, along with his parents and older brother. Since the abduction, heartbreaking images of the Bibas family have surfaced, galvanizing international calls for their release.

Raising awareness with Project Max
Curry has partnered with Project Max, an initiative dedicated to fighting racism, antisemitism, and intolerance through sports, leveraging the support of professional athletes. Project Max is also raising awareness about the hostages and putting pressure on global powers to secure their release. The organization advocates for the humane treatment and immediate liberation of all captives, including children like Kfir.

The Jerusalem Post reports that Curry's involvement also extends to his social media presence, where he passionately calls for action. As a father himself, Curry feels a deep personal connection to this cause. He recently told Sports Illustrated, “As a father, I can’t imagine the pain and suffering that Kfir and his family are enduring. We need to do everything in our power to bring them and the other hostages home.”

According to Outkick, the broader efforts to liberate Kfir and others have seen support from various communities worldwide, reflecting the global outrage at the human rights violations committed by Hamas. Curry’s advocacy through Project Max helps spotlight these atrocities, showing how sports figures can use their platforms to inspire action and change.

“Back when I was in New York, I lost a child to gun violence. Ever since then … it just reshaped my world. To actually go through a loss like that … to know that there’s hostages and that there’s children involved, that just hit me in a certain place,” Curry told The New York Post.

"We want their children to come back home, just like we would want our children to come back home. There are children just like ours here in America that are not home, that are being exposed to some of the most heinous acts anyone can imagine. The common goal here is to bring as many hostages home as we possibly can," Curry added.

The importance of figures like Curry joining these campaigns cannot be understated. His voice, along with others, is vital in keeping the international spotlight on the ongoing hostage crisis, ensuring that Kfir, his family, and the other captives are not forgotten.
