Bow, an adorable puppy, captured the hearts of millions after appearing on the NBC10 Boston news show for only a few minutes. It didn’t take much effort for Bow to wow the crowds on live television. He catapulted himself instantly into viral internet stardom just by taking a short snooze. But the best part of the story is about how Bow’s little dog nap created a ripple effect of love and compassion for animals in need.
Bow’s live television debut
According to My Modern Met, Bow popped into NBC10 Boston’s live news segment during a report on the NHL playoffs. His visit had been coordinated by the Animal Rescue League of Boston with the aim of finding Bow and his siblings forever homes. NBC host, Colton Bradford, cradled Bow in his arms. As his co-host, Melody Mendez reported on the Bruins, Bradford felt the puppy’s breathing slow and saw her eyelids fluttering.
Bradford responded with a wide, surprised smile. “Shh,” he prompted Mendez, during the segment, “The baby is sleeping.” Despite the hustle and bustle of the busy newsroom, Bow had totally relaxed in Bradford arms and was indeed snoring away. In a whisper, so as not to wake the “baby,” Bradford let viewers know that Bow was up for adoption by the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
Bow finds a forever home
Bradford looked thrilled to have a sleeping puppy in his arms. He wasn’t the only one blown away by what Mendez called “puppy cuteness.” NBC10 Boston shared that Bow’s nap had garnered millions of views across social media platforms. Even the NHL got in on the action, posting the clip to their Instagram account, since the anchors had been discussing the NHL playoffs.
NBC10 Boston updated viewers that since the clip went viral Bow had been adopted. They also reported that Bow had siblings, also up for adoption, who now had a waiting list of forever homes hoping to take them in. Not only that, but viewers had also been inspired to donate to the shelter.
It’s heartwarming to hear that Bow’s little nap helped him find a loving family and inspired others to become interested in rescue dogs and adoption. After all, doesn’t every dog deserve a warm, safe pair of arms to fall asleep in.
