One in nine people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water. As shocking as this may sound, the good folks at charity:water are looking to change this reality. 100% of the nonprofit’s public donations go directly to providing clean and safe water to people in developing countries. Answering this basic human need, charity:water offers a lot of opportunities for anyone to get involved, from volunteering to fundraising. One creative way to raise funds is to pledge your birthday, a campaign in which individuals decide that instead of receiving gifts, friends and family are encouraged to donate to charity:water. Funders can see where their donations go as charity:water prepares a Project Detail Report that includes the exact location of the funded water project via Google Maps in addition to photos and information about the recipient community.
Bit by bit, charity:water is working hard to change the statistics – ensuring that one day, everyone has access to clean drinking water. [Source: charity:water]
