NPR’s blog unveils historian Toby Lester’s discoveries about Leonardo Da Vinci’s work and research methods. Lester, author of the book, Da Vinci’s Ghost, says that the artist used to travel with a notebook attached to his belt, in which he scribbled or sketched “whenever something caught his eye.”
Among the vignettes, illustrations and little notes recorded, Lester found a list of action items, which offers a glimpse into the workings of a mind of a genius. Da Vinci was an unusual man, so it’s no surprise that his to-do list included unusual stuff. Among the action items: “find a master of hydraulics and get him to tell you how to repair a lock, canal and mill”, “calculate the measures of Milan and suburbs”, and even, simply, “draw Milan.” Just like that.
Sounds pretty much like our own to-do list. Or not.
