The East African country of Kenya is a dynamic place that has undergone many changes after gaining independence from Britain in 1963. Taking a 21st century look at the country, private and governmental sector figures have come together to create the Kenya Vision 2030. This national long-term development blueprint is intent on transforming Kenya into a more prosperous country with a higher quality of life for its citizens by 2030.
The plan rests on three pillars: economic, social and political. Within these pillars, specific areas are targeted to improve the current situation; for example, plans are in the works to improve tourism, rehabilitate and construct schools in addition to constitutional reform.
The trend of improving countries and cities is in tune with Ted’s grand prize winner City 2.0 - a movement to perfect urban planning, increase sustainability and have a happier and more satisfied populace. [Source: Kenya Vision 2030]
