You Can Take Part in the Global Day of Doing Good
Registration is now open for Good Deeds Day 2024.
The world is full of endless possibilities for good, and you can help make that happen. While you may believe it is too difficult a task in these trying times, that is exactly why doing good is so important now. But you do not have to go it alone. You can join hands with millions of other people around the world to become a force for doing good by participating in Good Deeds Day (GDD) on April 14, 2024.
But GDD, now in its 18th year, is more than just one day of doing good. It’s a global movement that shares the belief that every person can do something good – large and small acts of kindness – to improve the lives of others and to positively change the world.
“I believe that if people will think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the world,” said Shari Arison, philanthropist, businesswoman, and the founder of GDD.
In the beginning
Arison’s vision led to the creation of GDD which began in Israel in 2007 and went global in 2011. This worldwide day of kindness and volunteering has united millions of people from 115 countries around the globe in organizing projects that do good, helping their communities, and providing inspiration to do good on GDD and every day.
“This year on Good Deeds Day, let's all amplify the good and illuminate it while emphasizing our unity and our togetherness. Because we are all one,” expressed Arison.
How you can take part
Get involved in GDD in three easy steps. First, save the date on your phone or computer, register on the GDD website, and then let the GDD people know what project you are planning to do. You can register as an individual, organization, or business.
You can find a myriad of ideas for projects on the GDD website and there are promotional materials to download in several languages. If you do not want to plan your own project, you can join other projects in your community.
You can also find a volunteer opportunity through Points of Light, a nonprofit organization founded by former president George HW Bush. Another resource is VolunteerMatch, a nonprofit that matches volunteers with causes they support. Any project you participate in will make a difference to a person, a community, and to the world!
