It's not every day that an entire country rolls up their sleeves and dedicates a day to doing good. But that's exactly what's happening today, March 11, for Good Deeds Day in Israel.
1. Over half a million Israelis will be volunteering. Considering that the population of Israel is just under 8 million, that's quite a spectacular turnout.
2. With close to 8,000 projects across the country, there's a whole host of different activities going on.
3. There's plenty of projects delivering food to those in need.
4. While many of those volunteering will help paint neglected buildings and schools.
5. Almost all local municipalities are involved in some way or another with the projects, including over 1,200 schools and youth groups.
6. Over 100 schools will take part in the Design For Change
project that will help empower thousands of students.
7. When you add the volunteers and projects together it comes out to 2 million hours of volunteering on one single day in one country. Impressive to say the least.
