7 Good Doing Tips to Make Your Next Vacation Abroad Count [LIST]

There are plenty of ways to make your next trip abroad more meaningful while having fun at the same time. Here are seven things you can do to insert some good doing into your vacation. 

1. REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT BEFORE YOU GET THERE

WHY: Instead of traveling a long distance by air, for your next trip consider a destination that you can reach by a more environmentally form of transport such as train or boat.
HOW: Use the Eco Footprint app to monitor the carbon impact your journey will have in order to make it as environmentally friendly as possible.

2. LEARN THE LANGUAGE

WHY: Make an effort to learn a bunch of key words and phrases in the language of the place you are visiting. You will find it easier to interact with the locals and they will definitely appreciate the extra effort you put in.
HOW: Check out language learning website and app Duolingo to get you started on your linguistic journey.

3. VOLUNTEER

WHY: Give a little something back to the community you are visiting by taking the time to volunteer during your trip. As well as affording  you the chance to help some incredible people or protect the environment, volunteering will also make you feel great!

4. GET TO KNOW THE LOCALS

WHY: Taking the time to sit with locals to learn about their culture and customs can be a rewarding and enriching experience for all involved. Not only will you make some interesting friends and get to check out authentic local haunts, you will also have the chance to teach others about your way of life.

5. SUPPORT LOCAL PRODUCTS
WHY: When you buy from local stores and producers, you will be putting your money into the pockets of the people that need it. Supporting local businesses also ensures that the benefits from tourism stay within the community you are visiting.
HOW: Make a trip to the neighborhood market and spend time getting to know the sellers to understand a bit more about where their products come from.

6. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF

WHY: Even when you're in a different country having fun, it's still important to remember not to litter and keep the places you visit clean.
HOW: If you find yourself at the beach during your holiday, make sure to leave it clean and even go one step further by picking up three pieces of trash.

7. SAY THANK YOU

WHY: While it's always a good idea to say thank you, as a traveler you often need a little extra help from the people around you so take the time to show your appreciation.
