Introducing the World's Biggest Treehouse Resort | Childhood dreams can come true!

Did you ever have a treehouse? Or dream of being up in the branches? Now your childhood dreams can come true. The world’s biggest treehouse resort is being built in the Eastern Tennessee Smoky Mountains.

The Sanctuary Treehouse Resort will have 130 treehouses on 40 acres just a stone’s throw away from the Great Smoky  National Park. Only these treehouses will have running water, air-conditioning, and will cater to adults who want to indulge their inner child.

This unique resort is the brainchild of Amanda and Brian Jensen who run the Gatlinburg SkyCenter restaurant and shop at the top of a chairlift on a mountain, reported Forbes. The inspiration for Sanctuary came from a treehouse they built for their kids that contained bunkbeds, a trap door, and a zip line. The Jenson’s joked about renting it out when their children outgrew it.

After staying at a treehouse hotel in South Carolina, they revisited this thought again. The Jenson’s originally just wanted to build a few treehouses on their own property but when the land in Sevierville, Tennessee went up for sale, they knew it was the perfect location. Especially since buying it would preserve the land from development.

About the Sanctuary Treehouse Resort
The property allows for the treehouses to be nestled in the beautiful natural spot, according to Travel+Leisure. The goal is to preserve the land by building around the trees and all will have spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains.

The resort will have three different types of accommodations including The Tree Fort that will fit two to six guests. The fort will have a king-size bed, trundle bed, and bunk beds along with a kitchenette, fireplace, deck, and some very fun amenities that include a spiral slide, climbing rope, net swing, and a secret ladder. For larger groups there will be a Tree Fort double and the upscale Luke accommodation.

The resort will also have walking trails, a community area, enchanted forests to host events in, a huge hot tub and more. “It will not be just a place to stay with astounding views, you will be able to interact and play in your tree house, just as you would a 'real' tree house,” Amanda Jenson told Travel+Leisure.

Opening Soon
The first six – or possibly up to ten – treehouses will be ready the summer of 2022 with the rest of the first phase being completed throughout the year. It is expected that 30 units will be ready in 2023 and that 20 to 25 units will be constructed per year until the project is completed.

“We are cultivating a unique resort like no other anywhere for guests to stay, play, and retreat for a one-of-a-kind experience,” the Jensen’s said. “We hope to provide our guests with lasting memories, breathtaking views, and customizable options to leave them with a desire to come back and stay with us year after year.”
