Over the past decade, countless talent shows have popped up, not only in the United States but worldwide. From The Voice and X-Factor, to Pop Idol and America’s/Britain’s Got Talent, tens of thousands of people are showing up at auditions all over the country, in the hopes of convincing the judges with their talent and making it big. There is such a large number of incredible singers, dancers, and performers, that it is close to impossible to say who is best. The following five entries however, have truly left a lasting impression with their beautiful and inspiring performances.
1. CALYSTA BEVIER
Calysta, or Caly, as she calls herself, was only 16 years old when she came to sing for the judges. One year earlier, she was diagnosed with dysgerminoma, a form of ovarian cancer, and spent the better part of that year in hospital, receiving treatment. Her amazing rendition of Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" moved the notoriously difficult to convince Simon Cowell so much that he hit the Golden Buzzer and sent Calysta straight to the quarterfinals.
2. CALUM SCOTT
Calum Scott came to worldwide attention in 2015 when he appeared on BGT. Calum came on stage immediately after his sister’s performance, who did not manage to convince the judges. He performed a cover of Robyn's "Dancing on My Own" and in addition to a standing ovation from the judges, earned a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell. Once you see his performance you will understand why.
3. BARS AND MELODY
Bars and Melody are rapper Leondre Devries ("Bars") and singer Charlie Lenehan ("Melody"). The teenage duo wowed the audience and judges alike, with their performance in the eighth series of Britain's Got Talent. The powerful message of their anti-bullying song “Hopeful,” based on Twysta’s “Hope,” strongly resonanted with Simon Cowell, who hit the famous Golden Buzzer.
4. FRECKLED SKY
To simply call Freckled Sky dancers does not do them justice. Their performance for Season 10 of America's Got Talent combined stunning video projections and dance to portray the story of a couple trying to stay together in the face of an omnipotent being. Both Heidi Klum and Howard Stern actually reached for the Golden Buzzer on this one, but Howard beat her to the punch, sending the duo straight to the semi-finals.
