The nine months of pregnancy represent a special, sacred time – of new beginnings, connection, creation and big changes - and lots of love. And afterwards, tiny babies come along, making shiny new families, choruses of "ooh" and "ahh," smiles, laughter – and lots of laundry.
As any new parent will tell you, there's really no describing it – and every experience is unique anyway. Nonetheless these five pregnancy videos do a pretty good job of getting the powerful feelings from this transformational life stage across in creative, heart-warming – and often tear-jerking - ways. Enjoy.
1. INTRODUCING…
This cute clip starts with a kiss on the stomach, followed by a nine month time-lapse covered in 90 seconds. Anticipation builds as the young couple moves into a new home and the time comes for their little bundle, Amelie Amaya, to arrive.
2. NINE MONTHS AND A PINK BALLOON
Dad Don Rob took photos of his pregnant wife with a pink balloon over the course of nine months, and edited the footage using stop motion. The final result is a heartwarming pregnancy video showcasing little Althea Elcona, who finally stars in the video - clad in pink.
3. FROM BUMP TO BUZZ
When singer-songwriter Tom Fletcher from UK Boyband McFly discovered his wife Giovanna was pregnant, he knew what he had to do: make an awesome time-lapse music video featuring photos of the growing bump. In the finished product, the couple faces each other while Tom sings the song “Something New," which he wrote specially for the occasion. Spoiler alert: Giovanna has her hands full by the end of the clip.
4. FLEETING MOMENTS
This pregnancy video is a little different. Made up of 1,280 still photos, the video follows first-time mother Erin all the way through her pregnancy to the birth of her daughter Eliza. It's filled with special, everyday moments as the couple prepares for the next stage of their lives together –like ultrasounds, preparing the nursery and Erin's baby shower. And then suddenly – there's a new little person.
5. A PUMPING PREGNANCY
And now for some serious talent. This genius pregnancy video starts with a flat tire and a pump and ends with a new family of three driving off into the sunset. The stop motion clip, by filmmaker and father MysteryGuitarMan, took 10 months to produce. Worth every minute.
