January 16 is a special day for our green friends – it's Tu Bishvat, the New Year for Trees according to the Jewish calendar. To mark this eco-friendly day, check out these three beautiful videos – and think about doing something nice for the planet today while you're at it!
1. THE GROWING TREE
This beautiful animation follows the growth of a tree from its first shoots to its full glory – over 145 years. The twisting, sprawling movements and the bird and animal soundtrack will soothe your soul for 75 seconds.
2. DUET FOR LEAVES & TURNTABLE
And now for something completely different – electronic leaf music. Composer Diego Stocco makes these funky sounds by rubbing leaves against the turntable, altering the type of leaf, angle, pressure and fold to determine the sound.
