While breakfast may not always be the most leisurely meal of the day, it may be the secret for a healthier lifestyle. In a study published in the American Heart Association Journal Circulation found that people who eat breakfast daily were less at risk for high cholesterol and blood pressure than those who missed their morning meal. Additionally, the study showed that those who ate in the morning made smarter eating choices throughout the day. These tasty and simple recipes will make any person a breakfast devotee and they’ll start your day off right.
1. NUT BUTTER TOAST WITH FRUIT
This recipe has endless combination options. We like this recipe by the Skinny Fork, which uses nut butter, sliced bananas, and chia seeds. You could also add some shredded coconut, or a handful of goji berries.
2. QUINOA POWER PORRIDGE
This tastes-like-dessert recipe is healthy enough to leave you energized all morning and full until lunch. The protein packed meal uses seven ingredients and takes less than 20 minutes to make.
3. BREAKFAST QUESADILLAS WITH SPINACH AND BLACK BEANS
Cookie + Kate created this amazing and filling breakfast quesadilla that truthfully, we would eat any time of day. Make the prep time even quicker by using store bought guacamole or salsa.

Simple, delicious, and satisfying. Even the busiest person has time to make themselves avocado toast. Try any of these recipes from the Kitchn if you’re looking for a twist on this trendy meal.
5. PEANUT BUTTER BANANA SMOOTHIE
This recipe calls for just three ingredients (dairy or nondairy milk, peanut butter, and a banana). If you want a bit more protein, add all the ingredients in a blender with a scoop of protein powder, blend, and sip.
6. SOUTHWEST TOFU SCRAMBLE
Vegans and non-vegans will love this dish that combines protein and colorful veggies for a healthy meal. If you want to make this even easier for the morning, press the tofu the night before and add it to the vegetables and sauce in the morning.
7. HARD BOILED EGGS AND AVOCADO
Hard to believe this hasn’t always been our go-to breakfast because it’s so simple. Toss a couple hard boiled eggs into a bowl with some sliced avocado, a pinch of salt and pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.
8. BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE
Fitness trainer Harley Pasternak (who trains Jessica Simpson and Alicia Keys) swears by this smoothie, which is filled with vitamins, fiber, protein, and calcium. Also it tastes kind of like apple pie, so there’s that.
9. CHIA PUDDING
Combine the chia seeds, honey, and coconut milk in a glass and refrigerate overnight and have a filling, sweet meal the next day. Top with nuts and/or fresh fruit for the easiest and (maybe fastest) breakfast ever.
10. AVOCADO, SPINACH, AND CHEVRE SCRAMBLE
Our mouth is watering just reading the ingredients on this one. What could go wrong with eggs, ripe avocado, spinach, and cheese? We’ll gladly set aside 15 minutes at the beginning of our day to make this scramble.
