Kate Powlinson is all about bikes.

In this week’s 10 Good Questions, PeopleForBikes Senior Marketing and Communications Manager Kate Powlinson talks to Goodnet about - you guessed it - biking. With over a million members and growing, the PeopleForBikes movement collaborates with individual riders, businesses, community leaders and elected officials alike - to make riding better for everyone.

1. What is your organization’s mission?

PeopleForBikes wants to make bike riding better, for everyone.


2. What makes you guys different from the rest?

Bicycling is special because improves it our lives and our world in so many different ways. It also spans everything from a world-class professional sport to a simple mode of transportation. It’s not just a single kind of activity or issue.

3. Offices or open work space?

The majority of our staff works in an open work space.

4. What three words describe your organization?

Grassroots. Grasstops. Infrastructure. These are the three areas that drive all our work.

5. What inspires you?

Knowing that we are improving people’s lives by making it easier and safer for them to ride bikes.

6. What is the best part about your job?

My coworkers at PeopleForBikes are very smart and passionate about their work. It’s an honor to work with such talented people.

7. Does your team eat lunch together?

Some people do, though a lunchtime bike ride is the preferred mealtime socialization for others.

8. Facebook or Twitter?

Both. You can’t beat the endless stream of cool bike videos on Facebook though!

9. What do you want Goodnet users to know about your organization?

We are trying to unite everyone who rides a bike or wants bicycling to be safer. It’s free to join PeopleForBikes.
