10 Good Questions with CrowdRise [Q&A]
Meet Indy Bishop, director of communication at CrowdRise.
In this 10 Good Questions interview, Goodnet speaks with Indy Bishop the director of communication at Crowdrise, to learn more about the humorous and fun loving crowdfunding site. Founded by a group of social entrepreneurs - headed by actor Edward Norton - the platform allows anyone to raise funds for medical expenses, personal emergencies, tuition, charities or volunteer projects. With a mix of serious and silly, Bishop explains how CrowdRise is making a real impact.
1. What is your organization’s mission?
CrowdRise is about giving back, raising lots of money for great causes, and having the most fun in the world while doing it.
2. What makes you guys different from the rest?
We’re constantly innovating and trying to bring our experiences from the eCommerce world into the giving space to make giving back super easy and fun. Whether it’s working with an awesome endurance event partner like the Boston Marathon and Tough Mudder or connecting with charity partners like UNICEF or Every Mother Counts, we are going full tilt to help them raise money and change the world. We also do lots and lots of fun irreverent things within the site, on email and on social to keep things interesting and fun. Sometimes we give away pickles, sometimes we ask the CrowdRise community to help us finish our soap opera. It’s all silly and fun and people go crazy for it.
3. Offices or open work space?
Open office and laptops from anywhere our squad happens to be.
4. What three words describe your organization?
Fun, relentless, innovative
5. What inspires you?
Seeing people use CrowdRise to make an impact. It’s incredible to see people CrowdRising to pay medical bills, fundraise for their favorite charity, restore habitats, and help find cures for terrible diseases. There is so much creativity and passion out there and it’s so cool to give them a platform to help drive momentum and change the world.
6. What is the best part about your job?
Watching CrowdRise be a catalyst for change and seeing how a community can rally to support so many awesome causes.
7. Does your team eat lunch together?
Lots of people eat together and we regularly have lunches where the whole squad gets together to eat and play ping pong or zip zap zop.
8. Facebook or Twitter?
We’re all over both and love 'em about the same. Nothing but love.
9. What do you want Goodnet users to know about your organization?
If you don’t give back no one will like you. We like to say IYDGBNOWLY for short.
10. How can people get involved?
It’s super easy. Go to CrowdRise.com and in less than 42 seconds you can launch a fundraiser and start rallying your community for any cause you are passionate about.
