The more we know about our food, the better choices we can make, and the more power we have to create positive change.
Real Food Challenge
http://www.realfoodchallenge.orgThe Real Food Challenge serves as both a campaign and a network. The campaign is to increase the procurement of real food on college and university campuses, with the national goal of 20% real food by 2020. By leveraging their purchasing power we can catalyze the transformation of the larger food system. The network offers a chance for students and their allies (those working on the campaign along with those who've yet to sign on) to make connections, learn from one another, and grow the movement.

Feeding the 5000
http://www.feeding5k.orgFeeding the 5000 is a campaign that aims to empower and inspire the global community to enact positive solutions to the global issue of food waste. We work with governments, businesses and civil society at the international level to catalyse change in social attitudes and innovative solutions necessary to tackle food waste at the global scale. Feeding the 5000 is also the name of the campaign’s flagship event where 5000 members of the public are given a delicious free lunch using only ingredients that otherwise would have been wasted. Held twice in Trafalgar Square (2009 and 2011), replica events have since been held internationally - including in Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin – and will be rolled out worldwide.
Food Recovery Network
http://www.foodrecoverynetwork.orgFood Recovery Network unites students on college campuses to fight waste and feed people by donating the surplus unsold food from their colleges and donating it to hungry Americans. Founded in 2011, FRN has grown to include chapters at 46 colleges and universities in 21 states that have recovered over 235,000 pounds of food.
Zero Percent

Rubies in the Rubble
http://www.rubiesintherubble.comThe more you put in, the more you get out. At Rubies in the Rubble, our aim is to make the tastiest chutney, in the nicest possible way. That’s why every one of our jars is packed with fresh fruit and veg, almost all of which would have otherwise gone to waste/unused. Western countries produce up to 300% more food than we actually need, while 1 billion people suffer from malnutrition. Fairer distribution of all that surplus food is the ideal but in the meantime, learning to value and put it to use in our own country is, we feel, a point of moral principle. We want our products to be a literal solution to food waste. But we also want them to stand as symbolic vehicles of our message- to consume less, think more, and be proud of it. So go on... have a dollop.
